Valverde de Leganés (mid-afternoon). Homage to the officers and men of the Fusiliers Brigade who died of their wounds in the village after the Battle of Albuera. Opportunity to visit the three plaques inaugurated last year, including one at the HQ of Beresford, Castaños and Blake before the battle.
THURSDAY, 14th MAY, 2026
The traditional ceremony will be held at the British Cemetery at Elvas, starting at 11.00. Eucharist will be celebrated before the Ceremony in the Chapel (Capela de S. Joao da Corujeira) by the Rev. Fran Le Blanc, at 09.45. All attending are requested to be in the cemetery by 10:45. Dress for gentlemen is suit or blazer with tie and medals. After the ceremony, the Chapel and Museum will be open to visitors.
Subsequently, a seated lunch has been organised at the Varchotel, located on the main road to Lisbon, 5km south from Elvas, during which a fund-raising auction will take place. After lunch, Members of the Friends are invited to stay on to participate in the Association’s AGM.

FRIDAY, 15th MAY, 2026
Morning (09.30) - Optional guided tour of the battle of Albuera, leaving in individual cars from in front of the Hotel Dom Luís in Elvas, guided by Mark Crathorne.
Late afternoon (17.00) - Vila Viçosa - homage to those who died after the battle of Talavera de la Reina around the monument, with refreshments provided by the Municipality.

SATURDAY, 16th MAY, 2026
The habitual commemoration of the Battle of Albuera in the main square of La Albuera, starting at 11:30 (Spanish time). This will be followed by wreath laying at the PWRR Obelisk. Two lunch options will be available: either to attend the Mayor's vino de honor, or at the Restaurant Lince, with the Silent Toast.
